CARES was founded on a deep-seated belief in educational equity and a passion for helping every student reach their full potential. With nearly three decades of experience inside the education system – as a teacher, reading specialist, and principal – our founder has seen firsthand the challenges that families face. This unique insider’s perspective is the heart of our advocacy.

Jennifer (Jenn) Dewey is a dedicated and experienced educator with a passion for ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. With a career spanning over two decades in the education sector, Jenn has a deep understanding of the complexities of the educational system and a proven track record of advocating for students’ needs. Her recent certification as a Board Certified Educational Advocate through the National Special Education Advocacy Institute (NSEAI) further solidifies her commitment to this important work.
A Wealth of Experience
Jenn’s journey in education has been marked by a variety of roles, each contributing to her holistic understanding of student needs. From her early days as a teacher and reading specialist to her leadership positions as a principal and administrator, Jenn has consistently prioritized the well-being and academic success of her students. Her hands-on experience in attending and playing an integral part in 504 and IEP meetings demonstrates her in-depth knowledge of special education processes and her ability to effectively collaborate with families and school staff to create individualized support plans.
Throughout her career, Jenn has been a driving force for positive change. As a principal, she was charged with transforming school cultures to be more inclusive and supportive, implementing programs like PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and restorative practices to foster a safe and nurturing learning environment. Her expertise in curriculum development and data analysis has enabled her to identify and address learning gaps, ensuring that all students, including those with special needs, receive the targeted support they require.
